Commitment for quality assurance of the Undergraduate Programme of Studies
The Department of Marine Sciences hereby expresses its commitment for the application of a quality assurance policy on its Study Programmes, for the pursuit of its aims (as they are defined by the corresponding legal documents of its inauguration and renaming), for the suport of the academic profile and orientation of the curriculum, for the promotion of its purpose and object, the achievement of its strategic objectives and the determination of the means of their success, the application of the required quality assurance processes, towards its continuous improvement.
In particular, for the implementation of this policy, the Department of Marine Sciences undertakes to apply quality procedures that will demonstrate:
- the suitability of the structure and organization of the curriculum
- the pursuit of learning outcomes and qualifications according to the European and National Qualifications Framework.
- promoting the quality and effectiveness of the teaching project
- the relevance of the qualifications of the teaching staff
- promoting the quality and quantity of the research work of the members of the academic unit
- ways of linking teaching to research
- the level of demand for graduates’ qualifications in the labor market
- the quality of support services such as administrative services, libraries and student services
- conducting the annual review and internal audit of the quality assurance system of the Undergraduate Studies Programme and the cooperation of the Internal Evaluation Group (IEG) with the Foundation’s Quality Assurance Unit (QAU)
The quality assurance procedures recorded in the Foundation’s Quality Manual are applied at the level of the Department with the required expertise. All quality assurance procedures of the Department of Marine Sciences are subject to inspection and review, carried out annually by the IEG in cooperation with the Foundation’s QAU.
The quality policy of the Department focuses mainly on supporting the academic profile and the orientation of the curriculum offered by the Department, the promotion of its purpose and object, as well as the achievement of the strategic objectives set, through procedures and actions, of its constant development and improvement.and update them annually through the procedures provided by the Internal Quality Assurance System of the University of the Aegean.
In order to monitor the progress of the above, the Department has established short-term, numerical indicators that are in line with its long-term objectives and is committed to update and update them annually through the procedures provided by the Internal Quality Assurance System of the University of the Aegean.
Finally, the Department of Marine Sciences is committed to publishing the Quality Policy through its website, organizing student information days at the beginning of each academic year, and adhering to a policy of intense extroversion and interaction with graduates and research, management and social actors.
