UNDERGRADUATE PROGRAM

Undergraduate studies at the Department of Marine Sciences combine high quality Oceanography modules with a significant amount of specialized lectures, workshops, laboratory exercises, and field work. The mature and focused undergraduate curriculum provides students with an in-depth knowledge of Oceanography and its related marine sciences, and equips them with highly competitive transferable skills.

The four year undergaduate curriculum includes:

  • A carefully planned combination of mandatory and optional modules, that allows students to obtain a solid background during the first academic semesters, and specialize on particular scientific areas as they progress through their studies.
  • Summer internships for on-the-job training, regular lectures from visiting researchers, field work and laboratory exercises, as well as plenty of opportunities for international exchange programs.
  • A mandatory individual thesis project that calls upon students to elaborate on a particular research subject and demonstrate their research ability.

Our Undergraduate Studies Programme is “Fully Compliant” with the principles of HQA and the Standards and Guidelines for Quality Assurance in the European Higher Education Area (ESG 2015)
