Research
Her research objects are structured in the context of the Human-Environment relationships and are analyzed in fields related to: the Management of Coastal Areas and the involvement of local communities in the management process, Cultural Ecosystem Services and their value to human societies, climate change and its relation to social change, tourism and its impact on natural and cultural resources.
Teaching
She participates in modules of the undergraduate program: Environmental Economics (2014-2015), Environmental Science (2017-2018), Oceanography and Geo-environment (2018-2019), Coastal Management (2014-2019), Aquaculture management (2016-2019) Coastal Geology (2016-2019)
She also has participation in modules of the Integrated Coastal Zone Management (ICZM) postgraduate program: Coastal Management (2015-2019), Marine Biological Resources: Fisheries and Aquaculture (2016-2019), Policies and legislation for Coastal Management (2016-2019)
Professional activities
Polina Tourlioti since 2014 is a member of the Laboratory and Teaching Staff in the Department of Marine Sciences with specialty in Tourism and Environment (Social Dimensions and Management Policies). She participates in courses of the Undergraduate and Postgraduate Program of the Department, regarding the social, economic and cultural dimensions of the Integrated Coastal Zone Management. She has important administrative experience since she served the University as administrative staff for over a decade, from the position of the Secretariat of academic Institutions of the University, such as Senate, Rectorate Council and Council.
Other activities
She supports various internal committees of the department such as the Publicity Committee, the internal Evaluation Committee as well as the Training Office of the department.
